Foothold AI · Portfolio

What we build, and how we build it.

A website that gets found, the back office it feeds, and the app your team carries. This is the portfolio, and every site we finish is added to it.

Everything is in the open: every price we charge, and nothing collected until your site is live.

Published prices · No lock-in · You own the site, the code and the data

Extras, on any plan

A Foothold AI A5 flyer beside both sides of a business card, in the same dark and amber design as this website.£250

Logo, cards and a flyer

Your logo, your business cards and a flyer, designed together so they look like one business. Print ready, and the files are yours to take anywhere.

What you get →
A photographer with a camera to his eye, taking a picture of a newly fitted kitchen.from £250

Photography, a full day

Your work, your team and your place, shot properly and put on the site for you. It is the one thing on this page a competitor cannot copy off you.

What a day covers →
A tradesman's hand holding a phone showing the day's job list, with his tool bag on the floor behind him.from £495

The staff phone app

Their jobs, the address, the customer, and work marked done with photographs. It installs on the phone next to the dialler rather than being a bookmark nobody finds.

What your people see →
A phone resting on a laptop keyboard, showing the Google Ads logo and name.£495 then £199 a month

Google Ads, set up and run

Above the normal results from the day it goes live. Turn it up for a quiet fortnight and down when the diary fills. Your budget is separate and goes straight to Google, and the account is yours.

How it works →
A hand holding a phone on a sunny street, showing a local business listing with its opening hours, address, phone number and website.£295

Google and Bing profiles on their own

For somebody who does not want a website yet. Set up properly in your own name, on the map, with the photos and the services filled in.

What we do to it →

We take nothing on the printing and nothing on your ad budget. You order the print and pay the printer direct, and your Google Ads budget is separate, it is yours, and it goes straight to Google.

The AI receptionist has a published price. Custom AI is quoted per project, after we have seen how your work really runs.

  • The receptionist is £199 to set up and £45 a month, on top of any plan, and every figure for it is on the price page.
  • Custom AI built into how you work is quoted per project, because nobody publishing a fixed price for that has seen your business yet. We sit with the people doing the work, map the process as it really runs, and give you a fixed written quote before anything is built. That track is here, and it is a separate conversation from a website.

What happens to the site I have now?

Your current site stays up and working the whole time we build the new one, and we never work inside it.

  • You keep your web address.
  • Your email keeps working. Every mail record is written down and put back before anything is pointed anywhere, and that is the part that is not recoverable if somebody gets it wrong.
  • What the old site already ranks for is kept, and every address that changes is redirected, so Google follows you across instead of starting you from nothing.
  • Nothing goes live until you have opened the new one yourself and said yes.

How does a build actually run?

A laptop and a phone side by side, both showing the Foothold AI website.

A build runs in four steps and you see it before anybody else does.

  • We measure the site you have now and tell you exactly what to fix first.
  • You tell us what the business needs, and it is agreed in writing before a line is built.
  • It goes up on a private address for you to press and pull apart.
  • Nothing goes live until you have looked at it on your own phone.

The whole thing step by step, including when you sign off the design and when the money moves.

The design · decided one business at a time

What makes your website different from a template?

Every choice on the page comes out of your own business rather than off a shelf. Put somebody else's name at the top and the site would look wrong on them. That is the test, and a template cannot pass it.

01

Your colours come off your own work

Slate and lead for a roofer, warm creams for a salon, clean whites for a dental practice. We take them from your photographs, your vehicle and the materials you handle, not from a colour chart.

02

The typeface is chosen, not left as the default

A site set in the typeface that came in the box reads as unfinished, whatever else is on it. Yours is picked to suit your trade.

03

One thing is built to be remembered

A page where everything shouts is a page where nothing lands. So one thing on yours is made to stick, and everything round it is quietened down to pay for it.

04

The order of the page is a decision

Somebody deciding whether to ring you works through the same short list in their head. Your pages answer it in that order. Nothing they came for is further down the page than the point they would have left.

05

Your photographs, taken on your own jobs

A stock picture of somebody else's kitchen in another country is the giveaway that nobody local built the site. Half a dozen off your own phone are worth more, and we can come and shoot them properly instead.

06

No two sites we build come out alike

The look is decided one business at a time, so the next one does not inherit yours. That is the difference between a site made for you and a template with your name dropped in.

All of that is settled before anything is built. What the finished website has to do is a page of its own, and it is the other half of this one.

What gets checked before it goes live?

Every page is looked at on a real phone and on a laptop, by a person. A checklist cannot see a page. A person can.

  • Every sentence is read out loud. In your voice, the way you would say it at somebody's door. If it does not sound like you, it gets rewritten rather than tidied.
  • Sentences are kept short enough to read on a phone. The Readability Guidelines put the limit at 25 words and the average at 15, and every page is measured against both.
  • The words are dark enough to read in the sun. Every colour pairing is measured against WCAG 2.2 AA, the accessibility standard, rather than judged by eye. Both the light and the dark version of your site are checked.
  • Everything works without a mouse. Somebody who cannot use one can still find you, read you and send you a job. The same work is what lets an AI assistant book you as well.
  • A person reads and approves every word. Nothing goes on your site until somebody has read it and said yes. That is what stops a promise being made in your name that you never made.
  • Your business is written into the page as text, not shown in a picture. What you do, the towns you cover, your hours and your phone number. A search engine picks all of it up, and so do the AI assistants people now ask instead.

None of this is an extra. It is in the monthly on every plan, including the first one.

What an assistant sees when it reads your site

After it is live · every month, on every plan

What happens once it is live?

Something gets better every month, and you get told what it was. That is the promise on every plan, and the only thing that changes as you go up is how much of it there is.

You get a plain report

What people actually searched for to find you, what they did when they arrived, and what it earned. In words, not a dashboard nobody opens.

One thing gets fixed or added

Guided by that report rather than by a list we made up. A page, a fault, a photograph, a Business Profile post.

You see the patch you cover on the map

You do not have one position on Google, you have hundreds, and they change street by street. We measure yours from a grid of points across your area and show you the map before and after, so widening is something you can see rather than something we claim.

The site stays looked after

Hosting, security patching, backups, the certificate, and the Business Profile kept working, which is the part that puts you on the map.

The site stays yours

The domain, the code and every Google account are in your name from day one. If you leave, you take the lot, and the one month's notice is the month we spend handing it over.

You see what the figures actually say

Every report is read against your own Search Console and Analytics, and whatever it points at is the thing that gets fixed or added that month.

That is on every plan. What each plan costs and what is in it is on one page, printed, the same for everybody.

Trades and services · written one at a time

What does your trade or service get?

Each page names the jobs the way that trade's customers name them, and says what catches that trade out. A roofer and a decorator lose work for opposite reasons, so they do not get the same page with a word swapped.

Not sure whether we cover what you do? We work with all sorts of UK small businesses, trades and local services, and the list above is nowhere near all of them. Ask us and you will get a straight answer in about a minute, and it costs nothing.

Electricians

The missed call, the certificate, and the job that came in while your hands were full.

Plumbers and heating engineers

When the heating goes they ring whoever answers first, and that is the whole competition.

Roofers

The customer cannot see the work, so the enquiry starts with a photograph of a ceiling.

Builders

A quote goes out, nothing comes back, and the job goes to whoever followed theirs up.

Decorators

Three of you look at the same hallway and the one who sends the price that evening gets it.

Landscapers and gardeners

The work arrives in a rush every spring and then the phone stops, so the round matters.

Cleaning companies

You do not sell a job, you sell the same Tuesday for years, so the rota is the business.

Salons and barbers

They pick at ten at night, on a phone, and they book the one they can book without ringing.

Dental and medical practices

Somebody reading your page is working up to ringing, and worried before they start.

Vets and opticians

One caller is frightened and the next is overdue, and the two need answering differently.

Garages and MOT centres

The date comes round every year and nobody has thought about it since the last one.

Physios and driving instructors

You do not sell one appointment. You sell a course of them, and then the diary is empty again.

More from Foothold AI

What else is worth reading?

Every page here answers one question properly rather than skimming five. These are the others, and each one says what it is before you click it.

Foothold AI: websites and AI for local service businesses

A website that gets found, a back office that runs the day, and an app for your team. From £295 to set up and £99 a month. Suffolk based, UK wide.

Where we work: Suffolk and north Essex

Twenty towns across Suffolk and north Essex, from Sudbury. Most are twenty or thirty minutes away, and the person who builds your site comes out.

AI implementation for UK businesses

We build AI into how UK businesses actually work: quoting, chasing, scheduling and reading documents. Scoped first, fixed-quoted before any build.

Websites for electricians that bring in work

A website for an electrician, the back office it feeds and the app your engineers use on site. Published prices, no lock-in, and you own it all.

The next step · twenty minutes

Show us the site you have now.

We will measure it and tell you exactly what to fix first, in plain words, whether or not you go any further.

Nothing to pay, and nothing to sign. The home page has the prices and what is in each tier, and AI implementation is the separate track for automating a process rather than building a site.
